Jed - Stanford

I am DEAD SERIOUS. If you can go to this, go.

Basically, here's the gist.

The Cambridge Center for Adult Education is celebrating America's favorite pastime with a very special lineup of programs and events: HOME RUN IN HARVARD SQUARE. This one-time series of seminars explores the art, science, business and history of the game.

Now, there's a list of people doing these seminars, including Amalie Benjamin and Tom Brady's father. But personally, I'd like to witness the talk on April 29th on the comparison between the minor league experience and major league experience being taught by, well, Professor Lowrie.

The site gives the following introduction to the most precocious player on the Sox roster:

Jed Carlson Lowrie (born April 17, 1984 in Salem, Oregon) is a Major League Baseball infielder for the Boston Red Sox. In 2004, Lowrie, a switch-hitter infielder, while playing for Stanford, earned Pac-10 Player of the Year honors. He was a First Team All-American in 2004 and 2005. From 2005 through 2007, Lowrie played for Boston at three different minor league levels. During the 2007 season, he made the Eastern League All-Star team, was named the Portland Sea Dogs Most Valuable Player, and the Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Year as well. He was promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket late in the season. Lowrie was called up from the minor leagues on April 10, 2008 after Mike Lowell was placed on the DL. He made his debut on April 15, driving home three runs in a 5-3 victory in Cleveland.

This is the kind of thing that is just so beyond perfect. Seriously. I WANT TO GO. SO BADLY. Unfortunately, I cannot. If anyone else can, please do, and tell me what a wonderful teacher Jed is. Because we know he'll take it seriously. What a darling. ♥

I HAVE BEEN DYING OVER THIS. I could hypothetically go... if I had a spare $180 lying around and nine free Thursdays (negative on both counts, ahah). o.0 I WISH.

Liza, you do realize you don't have to go to the whole series, right?
